Oh my god that was so off-putting. The story was so odd and had left me with a lot of questions. Namely, why were the three kidnapped to be lab experiments as we can see. Not just that, but it's interesting how the three characters -- owl, goat, and wolf -- are two predators and one prey, especially with the ending implications.
The short length helped further the mystery, especially when we aren't so sure what happened. We have less information than August but with the 1000 word limitation it helped cut off any information that could have possibly help us in understanding the circumstances these friends find themselves in.
The ending had me having thoughts, either both Noah and August had to attack Caleb leaving to August being attacked by Noah or was it that Noah was ready to have all three of them die together as per what his final words in the story claimed, that they would all be together. And with the doors opening, did it mean that they were going to retrieve Noah or were they going to eliminate all of them.
It's such a curious thought! I really enjoy the mystery and wonder if there will be more to this story than what we see here!
The game is so creative. Despite not having a lot of assets, the background, BGM, and sound effects really did the story justice. In fact, they made the game even more disturbing and a bit sad in the best way. Moreover, the story is subtle yet clear—you understand what could happen and what had happened, even if it’s not directly stated. Everyone should definitely try this.
A disturbing entry that turns the asset limitation into an asset for the narrative. Stark, bleak, empty, and just not quite right. Noah is all the warmth in the room, which certainly gives the ending its impact.
On that ending, there are two wildly different interpretations I see supported by the narrative. I am left unsure if one was intended or if August's fate is open-ended. Though, spoilers, neither outcome sounds good for him.
Your visual presentation here is outstanding! Totally on point, makes this game all the more immersive and unsettling. The blurring until you examine something and zoom in on it is such a clever detail, I can't help but love it-
And Noah's sprites/expressions worked so well that I didn't pick up on any suspicion until right before we got the chance to get the truth, that was again wonderfully done!
I have small questions about the ultimate details of the Reveal, I might have to read that again to process what happened the day before fully, but the overall presentation is so good it gets 5 stars from me easily!
Most eerie VN experience I've had in a while ngl 0-0
Very good use of presentation btw. The blur effect while point n click is seamless to the narrative and it makes it feel immersive af. Even though the bits and pieces I could get are limited, it does the job well to make my imagination go wild and makes the experience both haunting and at the edge of my seat.
Now excuse me while I paint my white room green lol
I absolutely adore how re-playing it after seeing the ending makes the experience so much more interesting and satisfying to pick up all the signs! ^^ I also loved how with under 1000 words you made it that perfect length to enjoy and get all the important details as the tension builds without making anything feel dragged or skipped :D
This is super well made and was so much fun to play/record, I look forward to seeing potential future projects!
Wahhhhh, thank you so much. I'm glad you got a lot out of the story! So much so that your creativity went off in the description of the video (i enjoyed reading it btw) cx
It certainly was tricky trying not to pass 1k words. Blew past it writing the script way sooner than I thought.
Oh and bro you're mad funny and the editing enhances it-- I'm definitely checking out more of your vids xD
Intriguing game! I like the usage of blurry visuals and zooming in on specific things in the background. I felt like it helped get a lot more mileage out of the limitations of being able to use only 1 background. I like the mystery of the situation the characters were in. You did a great job giving enough information to the player to help them understand the situation but not completely spell out everything that’s happening. I felt like I had more questions than answers at the end. Would be interested to see a follow up to this! Great job on this!
This was so haunting!! I'm left with so many questions about who they are and what's going on and what are these awful experiments and why is any of this happening MY GOD???? You did a great job of giving new little bits of information slowly as the story went on to really build up the tension... and I loved the use of the single ambient monotone track that gave everything such an otherworldly vibe...
The composition of everything was also excellent. You used so many different styles! From the use of the sidebar NVL for the dialogue to the point and click section as August is coming to and trying to remember things... and absolutely lovely artwork! The starkness of the room was so intense. Together with the music it really made it feel so isolating. And I loved the sprite work and menu art! What a cute style (that also then makes everything feel that much more surreal in the game lakdjfasd)
Just really well done! I enjoyed this a lot, both the overall tone and ambience as well as the deluge of questions and thoughts this opened up in my head!

Thank you! It's all thanks to the whole team that the game is able to look like this ^^
I'm glad we're getting folks to put on their theory crafting caps if even for a lingering moment~

Thank you very much! Certainly didn't expect a playthrough. I'm glad it got your gears turning.
I don't know if I'll do a follow up but I'll consider it ^^

Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed the game! (I was bouncing all over the place when I read this earlier.)
I wanted this story to have enough information to understand what's happening, but open enough to think of many other possibilities.
Even when I try to draw more anime-like, it seems like I can't be rid of my cute style lol
I was at a surprise myself with the track the composer made. Simple, but very fitting when hearing it in game!
